Safdie, an accomplished author, real estate developer and businessman, staked his claim to fame by publishing a pair of breakthrough cookbooks about spa cuisine, based upon spa foods served at some of the spa properties owned by his company. Mr. Safdie and his company acquired numerous properties across the United States and overseas during the 1980s and 1990s, including a number of spa properties.
