Follow on Google News | Sweet Dreamzzz and La Shish Help Children SleepBy: Sweet Dreamzzz Sweet Dreamzzz, Inc., a non-profit organization, educates at-risk children and their families on the importance of sleep and gives them bedtime essentials so they can feel rested and ready to learn. The R.E.M. (Rest. Educate. Motivate.) Sleep Program is a unique program that deals with nighttime - a period in a child’s life that is rarely addressed. The program is twofold, bringing both warmth and comfort to the children as well as vital information they need to ensure a good night’s rest. The R.E.M. Sleep Program starts with a 30-minute presentation educating the children on the importance of sleep and good sleep hygiene habits. After the presentation, each child receives a sleep kit consisting of a sleeping bag, nightshirt, toothbrush, toothpaste, and a reading book by sleep professional, Dr. James B. Maas. The 295 K-5 students at Becker learned how their bodies grow while they sleep and how important it is for them to get enough rest. They learned what they can do to set up a healthy bedtime routine and what things to avoid before bed. Each student also received a Sweet Dreamzzz Sleep Kit, with a full size sleeping bag, a SD tshirt, toothbrush and toothpaste and a reading book. The owner of La Shish commented, “La Shish is thrilled for the opportunity to support the children and families of Becker Elementary in Dearborn with the Sweet Dreamzzz Sleep Education Program. Anything for the kids!” Divine Child High School students (Dearborn) volunteered the day before to set-up for the program. They unloaded the sleeping bags from the truck and they packed the sleep kits. TWO MEN AND A TRUCK – WIXOM, delivered the kits to the school, they are partners with Sweet Dreamzzz by donating their time and resources. Since its inception in 1998, Sweet Dreamzzz has been able to serve over 41,000 children with sleep education.
