The first work, new to Scofield's oeuvre and entitled Gratitude, features silhouetted poppies on a serene blue background. "Poppies are a symbol of remembrance," Gratitude is mixed media and acrylic on canvas. It measures 28" x 22". It is the first work in a new series on the theme of being thankful. The second work, True Love, is acrylic on panel and measures 12” x 12”. It is based on the biblical passage Romans 12:9, which reads: "Let love be genuine, abhor what is evil, hold fast to what is good." "The heart represents genuine love that is overcoming evil, represented by the lightning bolts behind the heart," Scofield commented. "The hands on the four corners symbolize the support and embrace of what is good."
