FORT MYERS, Fla. - June 5, 2014 - PRLog -- The Gabel Center, a private substance abuse treatment facility located in Fort Myers Beach, has announced the launch of a groundbreaking new program, “Warrior’s Refuge,” to provide specialized treatment for substance abuse and trauma for veterans.

“Too many of our veterans are struggling with substance abuse and mental health disorders as a direct result of their service to our country, and too often they are not getting the help they need. We knew we wanted to do something to help that,” said Jerry Bowling, CEO of Gabel Center.

The Warrior’s Refuge program makes use of existing therapeutic modalities at the center, in addition to expanded Trauma Resolution and experiential treatment specifically for this new program. Veterans participating in the treatment receive individual and small group therapy, family therapy, and detailed continuing care planning prior to completing their treatment at the Gabel Center.

As part of Gabel Center’s commitment to veterans, CEO Jerry Bowling has announced the creation of a perpetual scholarship bed for a veteran. The creation of this scholarship means that one of the center’s eighteen spaces is permanently set aside to provide free treatment to a veteran that meets certain criteria. An application has been developed to determine the appropriateness of each applicant for the program.

“Too often, veterans do not receive the life-saving care they need for substance abuse issues. Anything we can do to contribute to the solution is something we are happy to take part in”, says Ana Peana, M.S., LMHC, Director of Operations at the Gabel Center.

Those interested in the new Warrior’s Refuge program at the Gabel Center can find out more by calling the Warrior’s Refuge hotline at (877) 956-8222 or by visiting the center's website at www.gabelcentercares.com
