Sunkissed's Step by Step Guide to Tanning

June 5, 2014 - PRLog -- Step 1: Preparation is key. Before applying fake tan, exfoliate with Sunkissed Exfoliating Tan Remover to remove any residue fake tan and dead skin. This ensures a more even application. Moisturise any dry areas including: ankles, knees, wrists, elbows and face, particularly around the nose and mouth (the moisturiser will dilute the colour and help to stop product build-up).

Top Tip: Use Vaseline on your eyebrows and around your nail cuticles to act as a barrier and stop them from discolouring!

Step 2: Apply your tan with the Sunkissed Application Mitt, featuring patented barrier technology to stop the product seeping onto your hands. The soft sponge helps to achieve a smooth, streak free application every time.

Step 3: Apply Sunkissed Self Tan Mousse (in Medium or Dark). Start at your feet working your way up, this helps to prevent product streaking onto your arms as you apply. Work the product around your toes and not just over the top to give a more natural looking tan. Then move onto your legs – this time in downward sweeping motions - massaging gently to blend any additional colour. Take care not to apply too much colour around your knees where skin is drier.

Step 4: Applying tan to your front is pretty straight forward, but when it comes to your back if you haven’t got anyone to help you - make sure the room is bright and there is a big mirror on hand so you can see what you’re doing!

Step 5: To tan your arms and hands start with sweeping motions from the bottom of your arm up to your shoulder, moving around the arm making sure not to put too much tan on your elbows. Check under the tops of your arms and around the ball of your wrist to make sure there are no streaks. With the excess product on the mitt sweep it across the tops of your hands.

Top Tip: Make a claw with your fingers and apply over the knuckles and down the sides of the fingers for natural looking, even coverage.

Step 6: Finish with your face (using leftover product already on the mitt). Sweep the mitt lightly across your face, one side at a time moving outwards and blending up to the hairline.

Top Tip: Do one final check in the mirror to make sure you haven’t missed any bits; check your knees, feet and hands, if the colour looks more saturated add a little more moisturiser to dilute and you are good to go!
