June 5, 2014 - PRLog -- The safety system specialist, Aero Sekur, reports strong growth across all divisions: airborne, defence and Space. Expansion is supported by the launch of Sekur Space and Technology (SST) Srl and the appointment of over 100 new employees over the last eight years.

Aero Sekur has over forty years’ experience supplying the aerospace industry. Fully integrated safety solutions combine advanced lightweight materials, flexibility, simplified maintenance and ease of integration. Helicopter industry innovations include flotation systems, integrated life-raft solutions, valve / inflation systems and self-sealing, lightweight, crashworthy, flexible fuel tanks.

The company’s new Space and Innovation Division is located near Turin, in the heart of Italy’s Space development region. The dedicated Space operation is headed by Marco Adami. Having worked for Aero Sekur for 25 years, Adami has a strong background across engineering and technology, R&D, operations and business development. Backed by a team of ten Space engineering experts at 400 sq m premises, main programmes include support for ExoMars missions in 2016 and 2018, AgroSpace initiatives, habitat modules, an ISS water quality project and a satellite de-orbit system innovation. A new generation airbag system is also being researched by the company for ESA to protect rovers and payloads when landing on Mars: Aero Sekur work includes design, experimental modelling (breadboarding) and testing of the complete airbag system which would be used for small Mars landers (150 kg P/L mass).

For the ExoMars 2016 programme, in partnership with Thales Alenia France, SST has secured contracts to supply the mission’s descent parachute system and a new air filtration solution to protect both the lander and Mars’ environment. The company’s latest AgroSpace initiative is investigating the use of zeolite, which is widely available on Mars, for plant growth. Folding habitat modules are being developed in conjunction with Thales Alenia Spazio Italy. Aero Sekur’s water quality programme is designed to ensure astronauts’ health during their mission on board the ISS and the objective of the satellite de-orbit project is to avoid the generation, and risks to Earth, of Space debris.

Details of Aero Sekur’s full product and services portfolio, along with latest contracts and initiatives, will be presented at Farnborough International Airshow 2014.
