Surana College celebrates World Environment Day

June 5, 2014 - PRLog -- Bangalore June 5, 2014: Surana College, one of the leading institutes affiliated to Bangalore University in the city of Bangalore, has come up with ‘I Wish’ campaign on the occasion of World Environment Day. The theme ‘I Wish’ rightly urges the need of awareness to take positive environmental actions. The campaign emphasizes on conserving earth and promoting a cleaner, healthier and greener planet to live in and it also protests against living in hazardous environment.

Highlighting concerns on the issues related to pollution, Surana College urges Bangaloreans on the ill effects of polluted environment, the need to identify problems related to the environment and ways to take corrective measures. Aimed at spreading awareness on environment, this initiative by Surana College substantiates its commitment towards the society and towards the environment.

Ms. Archana Surana, Founder and Managing Trustee of Surana College said,” We have been talking about global warming for quite long but what have we been doing to conserve our planet is a question we need to ask". The solution lies within us ‘collective action and responsibility’. What each one of us does everyday has a direct impact on our environment. Every individual should put their foot forward towards conserving our planet.” “Our idea is to bring students and teachers together on one platform and create awareness among Bangaloreans. Today’s generation is well informed and definitely wants to make a difference to the society” added Ms.Surana.

About 100 students including teachers participated in the ‘I Wish’ campaign and made it a success by protesting for a clean and healthier environment and also students handed over saplings to local people around, encouraging them to plant a tree for greener planet. The rally started from Cubbon Park to MG Metro station, students participated in the rally with much enthusiasm and were holding banners and placards in their hands giving meaningful messages on protecting the globe. Students also took initiatives in picking up the garbage and cleaning the surrounded areas.
