Mount Vernon, NY—On Tuesday, June 10^th, Wartburg will host its second annual Jazz in June Gala:A Celebration of Art and Music at Glen Island Harbour Club in New Rochelle, NY from 6-10 pm.  Elise Finch, meteorologist at WCBS News, will be the master of ceremonies as Wartburg honors Rev. Dr. Dale G. Gatz and Ms. Yvonne K. Gatz. The evening will feature a musical performance by jazz singer Kate Davis.

Honorees Rev. Dr. Dale G. Gatz and Ms. Yvonne K. Gatz are Wartburg’s former President and First Lady.  Dr. Gatz served as Wartburg’s 8^th President and Chief Executive Officer from 1991 to 2004.  During his tenure, Wartburg emerged as the region’s premier provider of senior healthcare and housing services, with a major campus repositioning during his 13 year tenure.

Cited as a “talent not to be missed,” singer Kate Davis has performed in distinguished venues such as The Kennedy Center, Lincoln Center and The Blue Note in New York City.  Along with her lyrical prose and musical voice, Ms. Davis is an accomplished piano, violin and bass player.

Wartburg is home to several residential and community-based programs for older adults and their families including: Independent Living, Assisted Living, Long-Term Skilled Nursing, Low Income Senior Housing, Short-Term Rehabilitation, Memory Care, Adult Day Services, Home Health Care, Pastoral Care, and Caregiver Support.

Wartburg’s internationally recognized Council for Creative Aging & Lifelong Learning offers programs that promote stimulating thought, excite the spirit, and contribute to a more livable community for the aging population.  News & World Report has named Wartburg one of the “Best Nursing Homes in New York State” in 2013, for the third consecutive year.
