New Yorkers from all five boroughs are expected to cheer on the teams, which are being sponsored by East New York Farms, Oldways and Chaitty Coffee Shop. Each chef team is made up of one adult and one youth who will have just 60 minutes to prepare a 3-course meal that dazzles. Event visitors* will have the opportunity to watch the Battle up close as the chefs use healthy ingredients that can be found at the corner bodega, nearby farmers market, grocery store or at home in their kitchens. While waiting to taste the meals being prepared by the chef teams, event visitors can walk the Marketplace to stop by and shop at the various sponsor, vendor or local artisan booths before checking out the food truck’s menu. The Family Center area will have children’s activities all day. There will be a “Baby Chef Battle” along with face painting, arts & crafts, giveaways, and more. Everyone is encouraged to visit the Resource Center area and learn about community initiatives, health & wellness workshops and cooking demonstrations.
