Lawsuit Alleges Sexual Assault of Female Patient by Delray Beach Physician

Fort Lauderdale, FL - Farmer, Jaffe, Weissing, Edwards, Fistos & Lehrman attorney Adam Horowitz announces the filing today in Palm Beach County Circuit Court of a  lawsuit against DR. MANUEL ABREU and his medical practice, PERSONAL PHYSICIAN CARE, P.A., for the alleged sexual assault of an adult female patient by DR. ABREU.

According to the Complaint:

* The victim, DAWN MARIE BASHAM, is an adult female who resides in Broward County, Florida

* DR. MANUEL ABREU is an internist in Palm Beach County who practice medicine at PERSONAL PHYSICIAN’S CARE on Linton Boulevard in Delray Beach, Florida.

* During a visit to DR. ABREU’s office in Delray Beach on April 28, 2014, in which DAWN sought to have an infected cyst on the side of her leg removed, DR. ABREU lifted DAWN’s skirt and "wiped" her upper thigh, inner thigh, and then moved his finger up her buttocks, and penetrated her vagina with his fingers over her underwear.

* DAWN MARIE BASHAM immediately reported this assault to the office manager at PERSONAL PHYSICIAN CARE and later that day to the Delray Beach Police Department (Case No. 14-005945). She also has reported the assault to the Florida Department of Health who has an open investigation.

The lawsuit alleges that trust was horrifically betrayed when Dr. Abreu seized the opportunity to initiate sexual contact. My client is committed to exposing Dr. Abreu for this assault and obtaining civil justice.”
