Follow on Google News | Chiang Mai to host first Young Chefs Thailand CompetitionThailand joins the ranks by organizing and hosting the popular new forum being conducted around the world for confident young chefs to show off their skills and boost their culinary confidence.
By: Prem Tinsulanonda International School Applications are now being accepted for the 20 September 2014 event to be held at the Prem Tinsulanonda International School Auditorium in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Objectives This competition aims to encourage young people to: - To cook a healthy meal - Develop food presentation skills - Consider food hygiene issues - Develop their organisational and planning skills - Develop their ability to cope in a demanding situation Who can take part? This competition is open to all students from around Thailand, in full time education, between ages 12 and 18. Only the first 24 students who complete the entry form and pay the THB 200 entry fee will be allowed to enter the competition. Prospective entrants should complete the entry form included in the downloadable Information Pack found on the event website http://ptis.ac.th/ Please email the completed entry form and the proof of THB 200 entry payment to suthiponga@ptis.ac.th before 30 August 2014. The Competition Rules - Entrants must be aged 12 years to 18 years * Maximum of 4 students per school - Only the first 24 qualified students allowed to enter: the first 24 to register and pay the THB 200 entry fee - The competition will be judged over three courses: - Contestants will be required to forward the ingredients for all courses, which will be provided by our sponsors Rimping Supermarket. The maximum cost allocated for all the courses to each student will be THB 1,000. The ingredients and recipes must be forwarded to suthiponga@ptis.ac.th by 30 August 2014. - Each student will be given 1 hour to prepare and cook each course. - The contestants will prepare and present their three courses for judging by an expert panel including international chefs from the Le Meridien Chiang Mai and the Four Seasons Resort Chiang Mai, world renowned international chef and TV show host Vinder Balbir from Mrs Balbir’s Indian Cuisine in Bangkok and Pim Kemasingki, food aficionado and editor of Chiang Mai’sCityLife and Spoon and Fork magazines. Prizes awarded will include: - The Thailand Young Chef Trophy 2014 - An invitation to spend a weekend at Le Meridien Hotel Chiang Mai - Dinner for 4 at Le Meridien Hotel Chiang Mai - Lunch for 4 at Le Meridien Hotel Chiang Mai - Invitation to prepare food with the Executive Chef at a Le Meridien Hotel - Winner to attend seasonal work with the Four Seasons Resort, Chiang Mai - Trophies for Runner-up and Third place - Aprons will be awarded to all competitors - Certificates for all competitors - Additional prizes from local sponsors Accommodation On-site accommodation is available.
