Countdown to Snow Action on the Big Screen

WELLINGTON, New Zealand - June 3, 2014 - PRLog -- Amazing! Spectacular! Best Yet!  This is how movie-goers to Warren Miller’s latest installment, Ticket to Ride are describing this year’s movie.

Screening in Wellington on Friday (6^th June) and Sunday (8^th June) the movie takes viewers on an action packed journey with the world’s best skiers and snowboarders.   It is perfectly timed ahead of the opening of the New Zealand ski season.

Film-goers witness international athletes, including Winter Olympians and World Champions, at their career best as they explore the exotic winter playgrounds of Alaska, Kazakhstan, Iceland and Greenland.

‘Star’ athletes include World Champions and Olympians Seth Westcott, Ted Ligety and Julia Manscuso, plus legendary ski mountaineers like Chris Davenport and free-skiers Colby James West and Sean Pettit.   An all-female cast Jess McMillian, Julia Manscusco and Sierra Quitiquit explore the expansive terrain that is Iceland’s Troll Peninsula and a snowboarding segment in Valdez brings two legends, Seth Westcott and Rob Kingwill, together for a rowdy, big mountain adventure.

Canadian Tim McLean is both a Warren Miller segment producer and lead guide for Mike Wiegeles Helicopter Skiing and has been on tour with the movie this season.  Tim scopes mountains for the film shoot and spends weeks preparing and filming for as little as 2 minutes of finished film time.  He’s been involved for the last 20 years in the production and has fascinating insights into the production of these epic movies, sought after by fans worldwide.
