ccMixter BIG Summer Music Fest Kicks Off Today

LOS ANGELES - June 3, 2014 - PRLog -- Inspired by the big summer music festivals, ccMixter is proud to announce the kick-off of its first ever virtual music fest. From all over the free-sharing-culture spectrum, artists will come together to create and share music in a wide variety of genres. This celebration of unity through musical diversity will take place until August 30th in collaboration with artists at Jamendo and the FMA.  The ccMixter BIG Summer Music Fest can be supported through the purchase of a Volunteer Ticket Option.

Imagine visiting an intimate stage in a tented room featuring unplugged singer-songwriters; then segue into an open-aired stage where the rootsy sounds of reggae, blues, funk, and rock fill the late afternoon.  The night will light up with the energy of alternative, pop-rock, hip hop and triphop in outdoor theatres under the stars. Then enter ethereal tents where DJ’s spin the latest EDM -- house, trance, dubstep, disco -- with dancers reveling into the wee morning hours.  No music festival would be complete without a tent dedicated to experimental music, or a chill-room to catch your breath while relaxing to some smooth, down-tempo grooves. And of course, there is a meditation tent featuring soothing ambient sounds.

“The ccMixter BIG Summer Music Fest is, well, big!” stated Emily Richards, CEO ArtisTech Media, and the ccMixter artist known as Snowflake. “With artists all around the world contributing, remixing and broadcasting our collective creations, I can only imagine the new kinds of music that will emerge.”

Every two weeks, artists will focus on specific genres to fill the virtual tent with music.  Along the way, artists and listeners alike are encouraged to curate playlists and host podcasts to share the new musical creations.  Artists are invited to add their creative contributions to ccMixter's new (and always optional) ccPlus music library to offer commercial-use options for visitors to dig.ccMixter.org and ccMixter.org.

Playlists by genre that include ccPlus content will be featured on Jamendo and FMA. The ccMixter BIG Summer Music Fest will culminate with a set of albums that will be mastered and distributed on iTunes, Amazon, Jamendo Pro and more.

8/23-8/27 - LiveStream Vid Performances - back where we started in the Pleiades Unplugged Lounge

8/28-8/30 - culminating in three days of live-streaming all genres - in the Galaxies Theater!
