Follow on Google News | Land contamination: what’s all the fuss about screening levels?5 June 2014 Category 4 Screening Levels (C4SLs) were long in the making, having gone through rigorous procedures prior to their recent publication.
By: Newzeye However, despite being highly anticipated, since publication, the C4SLs have left the industry with many unanswered questions and a lot of uncertainty still over their practical use in both Part 2A and planning decisions. The motion for the debate is: “This house believes the Defra C4SLs make a viable contribution to the risk assessment of brownfield land in England”. The session will be chaired by Seamus Lefroy-Brooks, LBH Wembley and Chairman of the Land Forum. Participants include: *Simon Firth, Firth Consultants Simon was a member of the team who developed the C4SLs *Paul Nathanail, University of Nottingham and LQM *Richard Boyle, Homes & Communities Agency *Hugh Mallett, Buro Happold *David Middleton, DEFRA A series of short presentations will be given by each participant and then the floor will be opened to debate.
