5 June 2014 Category 4 Screening Levels (C4SLs) were long in the making, having gone through rigorous procedures prior to their recent publication.

LONDON - June 5, 2014 - PRLog -- Category 4 is part of the new four category system for classifying land, and describes land that is clearly not contaminated land.

However, despite being highly anticipated, since publication, the C4SLs have left the industry with many unanswered questions and a lot of uncertainty still over their practical use in both Part 2A and planning decisions.

The motion for the debate is:

This house believes the Defra C4SLs make a viable contribution to the risk assessment of brownfield land in England”.

The session will be chaired by Seamus Lefroy-Brooks, LBH Wembley and Chairman of the Land Forum.

Participants include:

*Simon Firth, Firth Consultants Simon was a member of the team who developed the C4SLs

*Paul Nathanail, University of Nottingham and LQM

*Richard Boyle, Homes & Communities Agency

*Hugh Mallett, Buro Happold

*David Middleton, DEFRA

A series of short presentations will be given by each participant and then the floor will be opened to debate. Drinks will be served at approximately 8.30pm after the debate. The event is sponsored by i2Analytical.

When and where

Evening Debate on C4SLs will be held on 12th June 2014, ICO ConferenceCentre, 22 Berners Street, London W1T 3DD between 6-9pm.
