BOCA RATON, Fla. - June 3, 2014 - PRLog -- Independent Streak Magazine features everything from interviews with the people who make film projects possible behind the scenes to those who bring it to life on screen. It targets everyone from actors to directors to cinephiles.

For Publisher Rachel Galvin, the magazine, which will feature local Florida and international content, has become a labor of love.

In MAY, Independent Streak Magazine (I.S.) was launched to the world with Jason Priestly ("Beverly Hills 90210") on the cover and an inside story about his independent film "Cas & Dylan." It also featured articles on other  films, directors and actors. Another highlight was an interview with Master Sang, a world reknowned martial artists who was in "Rush Hour 2" & "Rush Hour 3" as well as involved in the upcoming Brett Ratner film, "Hercules."

For the JUNE issue, I.S. stepped it up a notch with classy actress Joan Collins on the cover, best known for her role in "Dynasty." In addition, a two page article about her ups and downs in the world of acting graces the front of the magazine. Filmmakers can find content on how to make a documentary or read an interview with a director who has used special effects. They can learn about how making a film in their hometown might be a better approach than in Los Angeles or New York. Up and coming local actress Julie Kendall is spotlighted and Aussie actress Kelly Pantaleoni, whose film was just at Cannes, talks about the fest, how she got into character and her move to Los Angeles. Other pics from Cannes (including from "Foxcatcher" cast), as well as various celebrity sightings (like the "Prancercise lady") are also included.

What does July hold in store?

"Even more," says publisher Rachel Galvin, who adds that Independent Streak Magazine is a dream come true. She is working on July now.

Galvin has been in the film industry in many aspects, from an actor, producer and host to a talent manager and casting director. She has her own award-winning radio show (Best Web Radio Show 2013, Women in Film Miami), Indie Streak (www.blogtalkradio.com/indiestreak), which has featured international film industry professionals weekly (Sundays at 1 p.m. EST) since January 2012. She also has maintained a blog and social networking portal (www.independentstreak.ning.com) since 2009, the same year she published her 184-page book about the acting industry titled "Basics of the Biz."

In addition, Galvin is a freelance journalist and editor. She began her career in the writing world in 1997 in Los Angeles and has worked for over 35 publications in South Florida.

"My goal is to support independent filmmakers by providing them with an outlet to get their vision to the world. I hope the content in the magazine will inspire, educate  and entertain people," says Galvin.

Galvin is still working on building up her new website (www.independentstreakmagazine.com). The magazines are available directly on www.issuu.com as well. They are a flipbook only available online at this time.
