Atlanta Greek Picnic Welcomes 25,000 Guests to Celebrate 10-Year Anniversary

 
June 2, 2014 - PRLog -- ATLANTA, Ga. (Monday, June 2, 2014)—This week, June 4-June 8, more than 25,000 visitors will gather in downtown Atlanta to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of Atlanta Greek Picnic Weekend (AGP). This event-packed week will unite attendees through networking, a career fair and seminar series, a $10,000 Step Show featuring Grammy-nominated recording artist 2 Chainz, community service, the signature picnic and much more. Attendees are apart of nine International Greek letter Sororities and Fraternities known as The Divine Nine.

Tiwa Works, President & CEO of Atlanta Greek Picnic looks forward to the equally enriching and entertaining celebration and recognizes the positive exposure AGP provides for the city of Atlanta. “It (AGP) brings in a lot of people that are interested in the city and its entertainment. They look at Atlanta as a future destination or vacation city,” he says.

AGP’s Main Events:

The organizers of Atlanta Greek Picnic have planned events in hopes of enlightening the attendees physically, professionally and communally. On Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 6-8 a.m. attendees will enjoy free fitness bootcamps led by skilled and prominent personal trainers.

Wednesday, June 4—The Greek Network:  AGP, IBM, State Farm and HBCU Connect will sponsor this mixer at Suite Lounge located at 375 Luckie St. from 6-10 p.m.

Thursday, June 5—2nd Annual HBCU & Black Greek Diversity Job Expo:  AGP and HBCU Connect will host 40 companies and organizations seeking qualified candidates including U.S. Government Agencies, Intel, IBM, Chrysler, Nordstrom, Macy’s Inc., McGraw Hill Financial, State Farm and others. This two-in-one expo also serves as a professional development seminar featuring keynote speaker, Tony Gaskins Jr. The job expo takes place in the Marriott Marquis’ International Ballroom from 8:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

Friday, June 6—$10,000 Greek Step Show:  Nine rhythmically talented step teams from various states will deliver originally choreographed performances at the Morehouse Forbes Arena in hopes of winning $10,000 to use towards their individual chapter advancement and funding of service projects in their respective community.

Saturday, June 7—Community Service at Atlanta Furniture Bank: This service from 8:30-11:00 a.m. will provide quality furniture to those relocating from homeless shelters. In addition to the hands-on volunteering, AGP will present a $1,500 check to the Atlanta Furniture Bank as continued support.

While this weekend will cater to the members of The Divine Nine, the public is welcome to attend every event excluding the official picnic held on the historical Morris Brown Campus.
