Chic visited Etek first and undertook a tour of their premises. Chic met the diverse range of employees who have benefited from the Modern Apprenticeship programme.
Etek Europe is one of Ayrshire’s success stories, as the electronics organisation has gone from strength to strength in local and international markets. Etek is very proud of the valuable working relationships it has developed with both customers and suppliers. Managing director Mike Nelson emphasised that Etek is not finished growing and has ambitious growth and diversification plans for the short, medium and long term.
Mike went on to say that that he values the Modern Apprenticeship programme as these young professionals are the future and can contribute fresh ideas.
Chic said he was delighted to see a local employer investing in young people and giving them a chance to succeed. He congratulated Mike and the team on Etek’s success and wished them the very best of luck with their plans for growth.
Chic then visited local construction company Ashleigh at their site in Kilwinning. Chic had the opportunity to meet some of the organisation’
David told Chic that the ethos of the organisation is driven by a positive and progressive approach resulting in sustainable aims and an award winning service. David explained the Modern Apprenticeship programme is one of the mediums the organisation uses to focus on investment in people, skills and resources. Chic said that he was impressed by the organisation and recognised that the construction industry has an important part to play in sustainability and growth.

2014 is JB Management’s 20th year in business and they plan several events during the year to celebrate the company’s success.
