Randy Jackson of Zebra Signs Global Book Deal With VIP Ink Publishing

NEW ORLEANS - May 30, 2014 - PRLog -- VIP Ink Publishing recently signed Randy Jackson, lead singer from Zebra, for an autobiography. Randy Jackson was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana. At age five, he started playing piano and guitar. Some of his earliest musical influences were musicians such as Les Paul and Mary Ford, The Beatles, The Allman Brothers, Cream, Jimi Hendrix, The Moody Blues, and Led Zeppelin. In 1973, Jackson met Felix Hanemann and later on with Guy Gelso they formed the band Zebra.

Jack Douglas, who is best known for working with John Lennon and Aerosmith, produced their first album titled Zebra. The album went gold and was the fastest selling debut album in the history of Atlantic Records at that time. Over the next few of years, Zebra opened for such rock legends as Aerosmith, Journey, ZZ Top, Loverboy, Cheap Trick, Sammy Hagar and REO Speedwagon. The band, Zebra, has produced five albums as well as five videos with combined sales of over two million.

In addition to working with Zebra, Jackson also performs lead vocals for The Music of Led Zeppelin, The Music of Pink Floyd and The Music of The Doors. These tributes are backed by an orchestra. He also frequently plays live acoustic shows across the country.

In 1989, Kenny Aronoff contacted Jackson and asked him to join and tour playing guitar and keyboards with the original “Jefferson Airplane” on their U.S. reunion tour. Later, Jackson’s solo project titled China Rain would become a project that featured songs
co-written with Mark Slaughter and Jack Ponti; it was released in 1993 in the US, Europe and Japan.

Jackson was also in the melodic rock super group called The Sign. The group was formed by Mark Mangold of Drive She Said, Randy Jackson of Zebra, Terry Brock of Strangeways, Billy Greer of Kansas and Bobby Rondinelli of Rainbow & Black Sabbath. Their début album, released in 2000, was titled Signs Of Life.

As testament to their hard work and musical talent, Zebra was inducted into the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame on July 10, 2010 as well as the Long Island Music Hall of Fame on October 18, 2012.
