Local Energy Company With a Conscience, Scoops Up Tickets to Silicon Valley

PRLog - May 29, 2014 - CALGARY, Canada -- A new energy services company that has quietly been picking up residential and commercial business away from the big players in the industry has just scooped a big prize in the local tech community.

The Funding Roadshow – a nationwide competition for Canada’s most innovative entrepreneurs - hosted it’s Calgary stop yesterday where 20 companies were selected to vie for the coveted grand prize featuring tickets to Silicon Valley and $10,000 in prizes. Sponsor Energy won the pitch competition beating out some great local talent and was awarded the prizes.

The competition was held Wednesday May 28th in Calgary’s northwest at Assembly Coworking Space with the support of Fundica, Startup Calgary and AcceleratorYYC. While in the Silicon Valley, Sponsor Energy now has an opportunity to pitch their innovative business model to renowned venture capitalists in an effort to secure funding for future expansion.

Sponsor Energy competes with traditional utilities companies, but is unique in that it profit shares with local charities on every unit of energy its clients consume.   Since their Edmonton launch last spring, they have been gathering momentum with residential clients from all over the province as well as commercial clients such as car washes, restaurants, oil & gas service companies and entire office towers who have switched to Sponsor Energy from their previous supplier to save money and support a local charity.
