PRLog - May 28, 2014 - MINNEAPOLIS -- The second annual 811 Run is returning to Minnesota on August 2, 2014 at 8:11AM. The 5K race will take place around beautiful Lake Calhoun followed by an awards ceremony, prizes, games, beer tent, and a fun safety fair for the whole family. The purpose of the run is to promote calling 811 before any digging project. Once a call to 811 is made, the buried utilities below will be marked so you can safety dig around them. When a call is made to 811, 99% of the time there is no damage to vital underground utility lines.
The 811 Run is back!
All proceeds from the run will be donated to Operation Warm, a foundation dedicated to helping families in need by providing warm winter coats to children across the U.S.
A number of local utilities, the MN One Call center and damage prevention stakeholders have teamed up to provide the most visible and fun 811 Run yet. After running, walking or cheering along the beautiful Lake Calhoun course, runners and spectators are invited to an awards ceremony, prize drawing for anyone wearing 811, and finally a safety fair with games, safety demonstrations, prizes, mascots, a beer tent for adults, and more.
