Grantham's Chase Cookson and Gladstone's Mayor Brian Hill
While most graduates eventually go on to join Gladstone’s various boards and commissions, Cookson learned about the Future Leaders Academy after serving on the Environmental Management Advisory Committee (EMAC).
“I had initially expressed interest in joining the Future Leaders Academy before being appointed to EMAC,” Cookson reflected, “but after my appointment, Mayor (Brian) Hill strongly suggested that I continue to follow through with my interest. I’m glad that I did. As a student of business, I found the similarities between running a city and a business to be very interesting.”
Gladstone’s Future Leaders Academy runs from January to May every year. This year Cookson was one of 11 graduates who were recognized in a ceremony held by the city on May 12. In his role at Grantham, Cookson is responsible for the development and guidance of the university’s core education faculty members.
