By: Kariba Systems Crescent Petroleum has been operating as a regional upstream oil and gas company in the United Arab Emirates and other Middle Eastern countries for almost forty years. It began its activities in the early 1970’s and was the first regional, independent, privately owned Middle Eastern petroleum company to engage in the acquisition, exploration and development of petroleum concessions; Having started the second stage of the Khor Mor Field development in Kurdistan, Iraq, Crescent’s project involved the installation of a 2-train liquid petroleum gas (LPG) plant, with an ultimate gas production capacity of 300Mmscfdl, and further processing capacity being added to handle additional gas quantities as they become available. Crescent Petroleum and Dana Gas who jointly operate the Khor Mor LPG Plant and associated gas wells and pipelines in the Kurdistan region of Iraq, had a requirement for extending the Fiber Optic cable connectivity from the warehouses to the NVCP and Weighbridge (WB) loading area for Data / Voice / Video communications. With ample experience in fiber optics work throughout the world including Iraq, Kariba Systems was positioned to provide a reliable and robust solution to Crescent, with all the in-house resources to accomplish this project with superior quality. Kariba Systems terminated the 12 Core FO Cable laid from the warehouses to the NVCP and WB loading area with required accessories, compatible with the equipment involved and with protection against the wet environment. Kariba technicians took special care to ensure that the loss is minimized by using identical and perfectly aligned fiber. After establishing the connectivity and testing it for Data and Voice communication, the CCTV Video communication was routed from NVCP and WB loading area through FOC to the LPG CCTV server room, maintaining WiFi mode as standby. Kariba also provided for and installed all equipment such as the switches in the 6U cabins to accommodate the devices at required locations. In the end, all cores were tested for continuity between the warehouses to the loading area and the infrastructure network was successfully commissioned and became operational. End
