Fresh off of his viral "Billie Jean" high school talent show video, dancing sensation and overnight media star, Brett Nichols will join Who's Bad at the show, where he will get the chance to show off his spectacular moves in front of a live audience of Michael fans at one of San Fancisco's top venues.
Also joining Who's Bad for a portion of their set will be Awesöme Orchestra, an adventure-seeking orchestral collective. It was founded in Oakland, CA in the spring of 2013 by conductor David Möschler, an award-winning San Francisco Bay Area-based musical director and conductor. This will be the first time Who's Bad will perform accomanied by a live orchestra.
Founding member Vamsi Tadepalli has been living and working in the Bay Area for the last two and a half years. He reconnected with David, a fellow University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill alum, when he moved to the area. Vamsi felt there was no better way to honor The King of Pop's legacy than by adding some special touches to the show by getting his old college chum and his orchestra involved . "Dave and I were friends in college, so to see that both of us had moved to the Bay Area to continue our musical careers and also head our own organizations, it just made sense to try to combine the two. This anniversary is special to us for so many reasons, and now it will also mark the first time Who's Bad has played with strings. To have Awesöme Orchestra provide them will truly be awesome!"
In addition, Who's Bad will flash some new dance moves and a new song, which will remain a surprise until it's played live at the show.
This year, Who's Bad is also celebrating 10 years as The Ultimate Michael Jackson Tribute Band. What began as a humble college experiment by Vamsi Tadepalli has grown to be something bigger and more symbolic than he ever dreamed it could. "After college we started rehearsing in my parent's basement prepare for local and regional shows in the Southeast. With a critical approach to the music and visuals, we put everything we had into our performances. It's hard to believe that was ten years ago, and today the band is an internationally touring act. Back then, not even in my dreams was this a possibility."
In the last decade, Who’s Bad has cemented a legacy as the fan’s choice of Michael Jackson tributes by consistently delivering performances that thrill Michael Jackson fans and quickly win over skeptics. In that span they have played more than 1000 shows in several countries and throughout North America, including shows in Singapore, China, Germany, Romania, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Peru, Mexico, Holland, Canada and the United Kingdom.
