EASLEY, S.C. - May 22, 2014 - PRLog -- Two Rocking chairs sit on either side of a whiskey barrel directly in front of windows trimmed in brown paint.  On the other side of those windows is an addition of a Veteran owned business that just celebrated its one year anniversary.

“When I bought the liquor store last May, I intended to open a Wine Room that sold cigars and served wine and beer,” said Chad Roberts, owner of Corky’s

A year later, the first part of Roberts’ vision has come to fruition. Its namesake, for those who might wonder, comes from his Grandfather Corky, a local butcher and well respected man.

The Wine Room is truly unlike anything else the area has to offer.  Chad, USMC, owned a construction company and his excellent craftsmanship shines through in the Spanish cedar of the Walk In humidor or in the specific details of the bar itself.  Corky’s carries a growing selection of wines from around the world, fine cigars, Valhrhona chocolates, artisan cheeses and Waygu beef.

“When you walk in, you just don’t expect what you discover…It is close to home and my husband and I love the individualized service,” said Brenda Babson Faulkner local resident and patron.

Ribbon cutting takes place Thursday May 22 2014 starting at 5:30pm.

As for the rocking chairs, Chad’s two sons will one day rock in them and tell stories of Corky and their Dad.  They will also undoubtedly pass along why the wine room is known as “A Relaxing Place for the Eclectic Mind.”
