Advanced New Product: Ultra Perform Repair Filler specifically for weld zones of pipelines

Extreme adhesion to polyolefins (PP/PE) in the cut-back zone
By: Ultra Perform GmbH

May 22, 2014 - PRLog -- Wrapping withpolyethylene (PE) or polypropylene (PP) is a commoncorrosion protectionmethodforpipelinesof different types. The weak pointsof this method liein thecombinationof the individualpiping components, the weld zoneand thecut-back.

The two outer ends of the PE / PP sheath are removed before welding in order to merge them cleanly and as safely as can be. However, there remains an unprotected area - the cut-back zone. The bare metal and the transitions of the PE / PP sheath are protected by PE / PP shrink sleeves or wrapping systems. Unfortunately this is not a permanent solution.

Polyolefins are semicrystalline plastomers with a smooth, hard adhesive surface. To obtain better adhesion on the PE / PP substrate, the "flame treatment" is often applied; this being a complex and dangerous procedure.

Ultra Perform Coatings GmbH developed a special revolutionary paste for ultra adhesion to

Polyethylen and Polypropylen – The unique solution for the niche sector „cut-back-zone“.

For their novel, solvent-free repair filler system Ultra Perform Z-2 F Poly Ultra Perform uses additives that create a synergy with various polyolefins therefore causing extreme adhesion. With Ultra Perform’s new development, PE / PP surfaces can be protected optimally and permanently against fatal corrosive influences. For the construction and rehabilitation of pipelines this new repair grout delivers foremost advantages over current, unreliable protection measures.

Ultra Perform Z-2 F PO provides simple application without pretreatment for durable preservation value!

The innovative polymer additives ensure a unique molecular effect that causes this excellent adhesion to the difficult PE / PP surface. Previously such special additional fillers were successfully used in the automotive industry.

Ultra Perform Z-2 F PO – Solid and enduring by special fiber-reinforcement

They use first-class high modulus fibers for our fiber-reinforced putties. Beside an exceedingly high temperature resistance (up to 250°C) these fibers provide an excellent shape stability and tear strength (maximum force 500 N/mm²).
