ACA Great Rappahannock Whitewater Canoe Race & Paddle Green Event: Celebrate the Rapp!

 
FREDERICKSBURG, Va. - May 21, 2014 - PRLog -- On Saturday, June 7, 2014, the ACA will host the 34th annual Great Rappahannock Whitewater Canoe Race (GRWCR) and Paddle Green Event: Celebrate the Rapp! at Old Mill Park in Fredericksburg, VA.

Online registration is now open for the GRWCR (go to www.americancanoe.org/GRWCR), or participants can register on-site starting at 7:30am on race day at Old Mill Park. Races are open to all ages and include both whitewater and flatwater canoeing, kayaking, SUP, and canoe poling competitions. Proceeds from the GRWCR support local nonprofit organizations including Friends of the Rappahannock, the ACA Collegiate Racing Program, the Fredericksburg Fire Department’s River Rescue Team, and the Fredericksburg SPCA (there is a FUR class this year)!

After the races, stick around and enjoy the ACA Paddle Green Event: Celebrate the Rapp! (www.americancanoe.org/CelebrateRapp) from 1:00pm-9:00pm. The Paddle Green Event is family- and pet-friendly and features live music, food, environmental educational programming, on-water paddling instruction, river clean-ups, and the Reel Paddling Film Festival (an outdoor showing of the year’s best paddling films from around the world).

Sponsors for the Paddle Green Event include Ultimate Subaru, Virginia Outdoor Center, J.F. Fick, and R-Board. Vendors include the Sierra Club, Friends of the Rappahannock, Tree Fredericksburg, 25-30 Espresso, Clean & Green Commission River Management Society, Fredericksburg SPCA, Net Zero Land Care, Brent’s Native Plantings, Falmouth Fly Fisherman, Oysters 4 Life, and live music from The Believers.
