Reduction of Resting Pulse Rate Following Chiropractic Adjustment

CHALFONT, Pa. - May 21, 2014 - PRLog -- A study of resting heart (pulse) rate (PR) and its reduction following a chiropractic adjustment of a C1 subluxation was performed and published in the Annals of Vertebral Subluxation Research.  The study consisted of a sample of 23 chiropractic students who were examined on three visits; two pre-adjustment visits and one post-adjustment visit.

Chalfont-based Dr. Scott Walker, D.C., stated, “The purpose of the present study was to see what changes in PR, if any, would occur following chiropractic adjustment for C1 subluxation.”         .

“In this study, a statistically significant mean pulse rate decrease, with a large effect size was observed following chiropractic care of C1 subluxation in males, but not females.  More than a third of females showed success (pulse rate decrease) following their adjustment, while three-fourths of males showed the improvement following their adjustment.  Further research is indicated.” said Dr. Walker.
