One of america premier historical early sixties soul r&b and blues recording artist louisiana legendary moody scott will make a rare appearence and close out the 1st annual memorial day weekend music festival sunday may 25th at 630:pm. moody who just recently performed at his 50 year music anniversary celebration at the tecopa hot springs resorts tecopa ca before a huge crowd of fans from las vegas pahrump nevada and fans from california moody who for the past five years took a hiatus from live performing to donate his time writing his life story and working on additional music for his musical legacy..after the anniversary moody was so thrilled at the reaction from fans at his star studded event he made the decision to resume doing live performing .moody scott is today considered as one of a few true remaining artist from the early soul music period in american music through his association with some of america iconic legends with the likes of rock and roll hall of fame inductees jerry leiber & mike stoller of red bird daisy records new york. he recorded his frist record in 1964 with the legendary leiber & stoller duo the song was entitled everybody come clap your hands. written by hall of fame songwriters ellie greenwhich & jeff barry this vintage classic rock n roll song also featured the back ground vocals of the world famous new orleans dixie cups of chapel of love fame. He took everybody come clap your hands to a much higher musical level from the early do wop sound of the fifties to a more advanced sound of the sixties with the musical influences of the late great soul singer wilson pickett and soul singer bobby freeman; moodys version of everybody come clap your hands stands out today as a classic. the song was also recorded by british liver pool vocal group known as the serachers as well as being penned by the rock band the smashing pumpkins. moody began his historicallmusic career as a gospel singer with the starlights of his hometown of hammond louisiana. just 50 miles from the big easy new orleans louisiana his big musical break came in 1969 when he signed a recording contract deal with legendary radio broadcast personality johnrichbough of then wlac radio out of music city nashvillehe recorded on fred foster monument sound stage seven & luna record label. moody gained national exceptence in 1969 with the release of his proto funk r&b anti drug abuse song busting out of the ghetto with its funk driven beat and the funky bass styling of bassist tim drummond who was at that time james brown the god father of soul bass player tim drummond also performed on hit recordings for legendary bob dylan rye cooder and neil young and many others the musical highlight of busting out of the ghetto featured sax legend pee wee ellis and the world famous muscle shoals horn section.besides his recording career moody graduated from national broadcasting school las vegas and spent ten sucessful years as an award winning radio broadcast personality at wfpr radio hammond louisiana, and had a very successful radio stint at kajn radio out of crowley as well as a stint at klav radio las vegasmoody now resides in las vegas of which he calls his second home.
