Step 1: Will The Distance Be There: When you're making an approach to get a long-distance ex back, you have to consider if the miles will always be between you two. If they are, perhaps now is the time to go your separate ways. It's just not feasible having a husband in San Francisco and a wife in New York City in a healthy marriage.

Step 2: Sacrifice: If you want to close the gap between your ex, perhaps it's time to make a sacrifice. If the distance is the only thing keeping two soulmates together, maybe you should move closer but that means one half is going to leave their jobs or family behind.

Step 3: Is It Meant To Be: Strong relationships will survive some time apart from each other. You might just want to take this time to pause and wait a few weeks or months to see if the light still turns on after a break from your partner.

Step 4: Ignore The Outside Voices: Your friends, family, next-door neighbor, grocer, and about everybody else will tell you that long distance relationships can't work. What you need to do is wander outside traditional thinking to try and see if they do because where there's a William Shakespeare, there's a way.

Step 5: Rate Your Priorities: How does your ex lover rate on your priority scale. Does it go faith, family, football, shopping, beer, friends then soulmate or are they closer to the top. Make a list and determine if your troubles are worth it or if you should just find somebody closer to home.

Step 6: Stay Dialed In: If you want to get your long distance ex back, make sure to stay in contact with them. This not only keeps you in their life but it takes away some of the awkwardness if you ever go visit them as you'll have more to talk about because you've kept up on each other's lives.

Step 7: Go The Distance: Sometimes, you just have to say 'screw it!' Move closer to them for awhile, leave your past in the past and make the most of this life if that's what you truly believe in your heart. If it doesn't work, so be it you can always move back home and fill your days with some light daily reading.
