PRLog - May 16, 2014 - PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Award- winning Colombian born actress, screenwriter and film director Paola Mendoza will sign copies of her book “Los Que No Se Quedan” (The Ones Who Don’t Stay”) at South Providence Community Library on May 22. “Los Que No Se Quedan” describes how a family exchanges its existence in a small Colombian town for the fast life of Los Angeles and how a mother and daughter must overcome war, misery and suffering to survive on their own. The critically acclaimed work is Ms Mendoza’s first novel and was published by Penguin Books in 2013.
As an actress, Paola Mendoza starred in "Sangre de mi Sangre" (Jury Award: Sundance Film Festival), "Entre Nos" (honorable mention: Tribeca Film Festival) and "On the Outs" (Toronto Film Festival). She has directed both short and feature length productions (including "Entre Nos", "Half of Her", "Autumn’s Eyes", and "La Toma") and was named one of 25 New Faces of Independent Film by Filmmaker Magazine. Ms. Mendoza was a nominee for the 2008 & 2010 NALIP Estela Awards, given to Latino filmmakers that show extraordinary promise in the field of directing.
