Shutts & Bowen's Alexander Tachmes elected to board of Jewish Community Services of South Florida

MIAMI - May 15, 2014 - PRLog -- Alexander I. Tachmes, a partner in Shutts & Bowen's Real Estate and Land Use Department in Miami, has been elected to the Board of Directors of Jewish Community Services of South Florida.

Serving 25,000 people a year, Jewish Community Services has become one of Florida’s largest and most influential social service agencies. The organization traces its roots to the 1920 founding of its predecessor agency, Jewish Family Service of Greater Miami.

JCS operates a host of programs throughout South Florida, serving the homeless, victims of domestic abuse, struggling families, homebound seniors, people with disabilities, and thousands of others. Its programs are designed to make people healthier and more independent, regardless of race or creed. The agency had a 2012-13 budget of more than $15.6 million. A resident of Miami Beach, Mr. Tachmes has a strong record of community involvement. He is a member of the Board of Trustees of Miami City Ballet and a member of the Board of Directors, Finance and Operations Committee and Management Committee of the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts. He is a Governor Emeritus of the Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce and a Founder of Mount Sinai Medical Center.

In his practice, Mr. Tachmes represents developers, property owners, and other clients in governmental matters pertaining to land use, zoning, and real estate, as well as commercial property transactions of all kinds. He has a substantial number of hospitality industry clients, ranging from major publicly-traded firms to boutique hotel companies.
