OAK PARK, Ill. - May 15, 2014 - PRLog -- The makeovers will take place on May 20 and 21, 2014 and they will commemorate the 400th room makeover completed by the national organization. The Fleming family is very special, and the story begins with single mother Margaret Fleming. Margaret adopted 9 year old Luca and 10 year old Lanh when she was in her late 60’s. She was well aware that they had serious medical issues, but she fell in love with each child nonetheless. Luca was born in Chicago to a troubled mother and Lanh was adopted at age 2 ½ from an orphanage in HoChi Minh City, Vietnam. Additionally, Margaret has 3 biological children and 8 adopted children in total. Today, she and four of her adopted children, ranging in age from 9 to 16 years of age, live with her in Oak Park. Despite their challenges both Luca and Lanh are happy and thriving children. Luca is requesting a space themed bedroom and Lanh is asking for a sophisticated pink room.

To help complete makeovers, Special Spaces depends on donations from individuals, local businesses, groups and even other foundations. The Special Spaces Chicagoland Chapter is conducting this makeover with sponsorship from two companies: Crescent Electric and American Mattress. Crescent Electric Supply Company will provide man power and supplies. American Mattress will donate 4 mattresses and is running a special promotion to help the family with other basic needs. “We are so grateful to have support from local businesses. Ongoing support enables us to help many more sick children,” said Chicagoland Director Kelly Knox.
