TVS Global Media Gets Back in the Ring 39 Years After Establishing Wrestling as a National TV Event

CALIFORNIA CITY, Calif. - May 15, 2014 - PRLog -- The International Wrestling Association, formed in 1975 by the TVS Television Network, renews it's wrestling TV series on May 25th traveling to Chicago in Affiliation with GALLI Lucha Libre.

IWA Star Bryce Benjamin and Mike Anthony will  face  Acid Jazz and GPA  From GALLI in the headline match.  The Semi main event will include a unique 6 man tag team match where IWA stalwarts American Gigolo and N8 Mattson with their partner Ricky Cruz. IWA Stars Discovery & Noriega join with Furia Roja.for the opposition.

Other Matches with IWA stars Include Kid Hybrid vs. Emperador Azteca;  and Mojo McQueen vs. Justin Mane.

The rest of the card is rounded out by GALLI Lucha Libre Wrestlers: The Syndicate vs. Team 2 Star and Joey Marx;Punisher 747 vs. Silencio Kunai and  Golden Dragon; Overload vs. Jake Parnell;  and 2 Sexy For U vs. D Scorpion, Destructor,Jr, and Traidor. The IWA has adopted a policy of uniting the regional wrestling promoters so that they can enjoy a national stage, rather than compete against them. GALLI Lucha and American Sky Dojo are the first 'affiliates' to benefit from the IWA plan.

."In 1975 TVS saw the need to break wrestling out of the chains of the local promoters so that it could become a national TV product," explained IWA Commissioner Rodd William Stowell. "It worked, and even though the IWA did enjoy the fruits of that success, wrestling fans did with the advent of the WWWF (then WWF and now WWE) a few years later."

In 2014, TVS (now grown to become the TVS Global Media company) again saw the need for the IWA and has revived it.

"Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely," explained Commissioner Stowell. "The WWE got so big that, without competition, they lost sight of the fact that wrestling is for the wrestling fans. They broadened it out to get bigger audiences, but it was at the cost of the wrestling."

TVS Television Network, the fourth oldest commercial broadcast network in the USA. TVS was founded in 1960. By 1975 they were expanding their programming to include the World Football League and the International Wrestling Association. Both were bold ventures that changed the face of the sports world.

TVS founded the IWA in 1975 as the first national wrestling promotion. Until then, all wrestling was local and regional in scope.

Classic IWA wrestlers included Mil Mascaras, Bulldog Brower, Rip Hawk, Gino Brito aand Dino Bravo, Eric the Red, Argentina Apollo,  Cowboy Bob Ellis, Tex McKenzie, Hacksaw Reynolds, and Ernie Ladd.
