This partnership is to raise awareness of the need for life-saving blood donations; just one donation can save up to three lives. Donors will receive a T-shirt upon their donation, and will be entered to win a vacation to Disney World. In addition, participants are encouraged to keep an eye out for the PODS container while My Mix 94.5 will be onsite from 12 – 2 p.m.
“We’re excited to be a part of this wonderful annual event. We enjoy working with Kentucky Blood Center again to help increase blood donations and save lives,” said Ken Kocon, general manager of PODS of Lexington. “We hope to surpass last year, and we’re looking forward to the turnout.”
Kentucky Blood Center relies on volunteer blood donors to meet area patients’ needs. KBC, the largest Food and Drug Administration (FDA) licensed blood bank headquartered in the Commonwealth, is a non-profit organization dedicated to ensuring a safe, adequate blood supply for patients at nearly 70 Kentucky hospitals and clinics in more than 60 counties.
“With our ‘Livin’ by Givin’’ promotion and the chance to win one of three fabulous trips, we hope Kentuckians will be encouraged to donate and save lives as often as possible this year,” said Martha Osborne, KBC’s Executive Director of Marketing and Recruitment. “We’re always grateful for PODS of Lexington’s help by getting the word out and their involvement with the event.”
Over the last year, KBC distributed nearly 130,000 blood components, relying on volunteer blood donors to meet patients’ needs in the areas it serves.
