LANCASTER, Pa. - May 14, 2014 - PRLog -- Lancaster, PA (May 14, 2014) Environmental Recovery Corporation (http://ercofpa.com/) (ERC), one of the largest residual waste-processing facilities in the mid-Atlantic region, headquartered in Lancaster, PA, participated in the 25th Annual Make-A-Wish® Mother’s Day Truck Convoy held on Sunday, May 11, 2014.

The Convoy, held at Burle Industries, 1000 New Holland Avenue (Rt.23) Lancaster, is a collection of trucks from across the United States that converge at one location to help raise awareness and funds for Make-A-Wish® Philadelphia & Susquehanna Valley (http://philasv.wish.org/). For the past 24 years, the event has grown to as many as 450 trucks with over 100 wish children as passengers.

Environmental Recovery Corporation dedicated two trucks to transport brothers, Drake & Benjamin Mantheiy for the 25th Annual Make-A-Wish® Mother’s Day Truck Convoy. Benjamin Mantheiy (age 6) rode with Dan Wagner, ERC driver, in a Tanker truck. Drake Mantheiy (age 7) rode with Frank Haldeman, Jr., ERC driver, in a Roll-off (http://ercofpa.com/services/roll-off/) truck. The Mantheiy brothers both suffer from Hydrocephalus a condition in which fluid accumulates in the brain enlarging the head and sometimes causing brain damage.

This marks the second year that Environmental Recovery Corporation has participated in the event. During the 2013 Mother’s Day Truck Convoy Dan Wagner & Frank Haldeman, Jr. were pleased to transport the Mantheiy boys and their parents, Rick & Ashley. A relationship sparked between the Mantheiy boys and the ERC drivers during the 2013 Convoy. The experience inspired the drivers to keep in touch with the Mantheiy family, and the family specifically requested to ride with Environmental Recovery Corporation for the 2014 Convoy.

“Dan & Frank made an impression on the boys because they treated them like regular kids and didn’t make them feel like they were different. I didn’t realize quite how powerful the experience was until the boys indicated that they wanted to ride with ‘Driver Dan’ & ‘Driver Frank’ again this year,” said Ashley Mantheiy.

“As a company we believe that we have a responsibility to give back to our community. The entire ERC team shares this vision and that is evident in Dan & Frank’s willingness to not only raise funds and participate in the event, but by taking an interest in the Mantheiy family beyond the event,” said Ken Lefever, President of Environmental Recovery Corporation.

Funds raised for the Mother’s Day Truck Convoy will help support wishes for kids served by Make-A-Wish® Philadelphia & Susquehanna Valley. For more information please visit http://philasv.wish.org/.
