The Anti-Cruelty Society Takes on 2014 ASPCA Rachael Ray $100K Challenge

Community Support Needed for Chance to Win $100,000 Grand Prize and Save More Lives

May 14, 2014 - PRLog -- CHICAGO —Beginning June 1, The Anti-Cruelty Society, Chicago’s oldest and largest animal welfare organization, will be a contestant in the 2014 ASPCA Rachael Ray $100K Challenge. The Society is one of 50 shelters throughout the United States competing for a chance at more than $600,000 in grant funding, including a grand prize of $100,000.

The 2014 ASPCA Rachael Ray $100K Challenge is a nationwide competition for animal shelters—and their communities—aimed at getting more animals adopted or returned to their owners than ever before.

“The ASPCA Rachael Ray $100K Challenge is a great motivator for our team and the residents and businesses of Chicago to get involved and to help connect hundreds of the beautiful, fun, loving cats and dogs in our shelter with the right families,” said Dr. Robyn Barbiers, president of The Anti-Cruelty Society. “Working together, we will save thousands of animals and enrich the lives of new adopting families, and we’ll have a shot at the $100,000 grant which would fund our many life-save programs and services as well as help us to update our dog adoption room with new kennels.”

Throughout June, July and August 2014 Society ambassadors will be throughout the community encouraging people to adopt shelter animals—helping us to achieve our goal of adopting 2,100 cats and dogs in just three months. Not only will they be found at various adoption events throughout the city, but you will also catch them at street fests, and the Chicago Pride Parade. Throughout the summer, there will be special promotions on site at the Society’s adoption center (510 N LaSalle, Chicago) to help our shelter animals find their forever homes.

To kick off the challenge, The Anti-Cruelty Society will be celebrating the most popular wedding month, June. On Sunday, June 1 at 2 p.m, the Society is taking part in the celebration of marriage equality by hosting a “commitment to caring” wedding celebration for its new cat and dog mascots, Grand and LaSalle. June 1-8, a whole week of marriage-related promotions will be available for adopters to take advantage of, including: 25% off of your adoption fee if you are celebrating a June wedding anniversary, a chance to win one of 5 pet portrait sessions with your new furry family member with Fetch Portraits, (http://www.fetchportraits.com/) and a grand prize drawing for a chance to win an entire wedding photography package from Timothy Whaley photography.
