By: Advanced Performance CrossFit Members of the team have been training for the past year in hopes of competing in Cincinnati. The Team consists of Brandon Bupp, Seth Hill and Thomas Karos with Zack Click as alternate. For the women, APC will be represented by Heidi Bogue, Christine Fajt and Anna Jones with Amanda Pallija as alternate. Karos competed as an individual in last year’s Central East competition but for the rest of the team, this will be their rookie year. “I remember being there last year, watching, and thinking of how cool it would be to compete (as a team) and now we are… the fact that most of us have been here since APC opened, that we all work out together everyday… it’s pretty cool that now we’re at this level,” says Fajt. Her score, along with Burton’s and each of the team member’s individual scores helped push APC into the top 10% of teams. Director of Development, Heidi Bogue, adds that being invited to Cincinnati along with the rest of the team is “an extreme privilege.” Bogue loves APC and says that “no matter what the outcome, I am proud of what we have accomplished… APC recently celebrated its 2nd year anniversary and owner, Dr. Brandon Bupp, of Advanced Health and Wellness Center, is proud to be part of the 2014 team but also excited about the participation from the rest of the gym. APC had 86 members compete in the Open competition which ran in February and March. APC members performed one workout per week and submitted their score online along with other fitness enthusiasts around the globe. After the first five weeks, two APC members earned scores that placed them in the top 200 slots for their age divisions and gave them the chance to compete in the Master’s Qualifier events. Coach Pete Bach and Coach Heidi Bogue tackled all four Master’s Qualifier events for their chance to compete at the CrossFit Games in Carson, CA. Bogue ultimately placed outside the top 20 in her age bracket, but says that she loves the competition and community that APC thrives on.
