Office-style Comedy Web Series Marvelless Martan Releases New Episode “Talking Staff”

NEW YORK - May 13, 2014 - PRLog -- MARTAN PRODUCTIONS announces a brand new episode of Marvelless Martan, a scripted comedy web series, starring Martin Joseph (ABC’s My Wife and Kids, WB’s Parent’hood).

SYNOPSIS: Marvelless Martan is a behind-the-scenes peek into the pitiful world of a narcissistic but loveable daytime talk show host with just one name: Martan. It all starts when D-Lister Martan, the youngest daytime talk show host since Ricki Lake, is approached by NY college students to produce a documentary about his (unlikely) rise to the top. From there, we watch as his rag tag production team, led by an out-of-touch formerDonahue producer, Wendy, (played by Henriette Mantel, best known for her role as Alice in The Brady Bunch movie) desperately tries to please Martan. You can’t help but root for underdog Martan, who purchased his current wardrobe from a Liberace estate sale, as his unqualified staff of painfully awkward assistants, lazy producers, and his theatrical sidekick Scotty seem to sabotage “The Martan Show” at every turn. From booking “the wrong Taylor” to allowing a kangaroo with an uncontrollable colon roam the set, Martan can’t seem to win. Despite all this, the delusional Martan (a very Michael Scott-like character) strives to spread his incoherent message of “marvelosity” to the world, believing in his heart he will one day be bigger than Oprah. And he’s not afraid to let you know it.

Marvelless Martan does what Kathy Griffin couldn’t do: prove that Life on the D-List can actually be funny.

Martan sits down with the student film crew documenting life at “The Martan Show” to talk in-depth about each member of his endearingly pathetic staff. Why should you watch? A hilarious wardrobe malfunction that could only happen to Martan (don’t worry, we keep it clean!).

BACKGROUND: Martin Joseph came up with the lead character for this series while developing his own one-man show What Makes You Think I Want To Talk To You? After sellout performances in NY and LA, Martin grew to love the self-indulgent and often obnoxious Martan, who deep down is “a big, insecure dork who just wants people to like him.” Martin explains that there’s something for everyone in this series because “each character is perfectly imperfect and is somebody you have met, have worked with, lived next to, sat next to or maybe even dated.”
