Get Fit NH Celebrates Sixth Anniversary

Owner Dean Carlson pens heartfelt letter of gratitude to clients and staff

PRLog - May 13, 2014 - EPSOM, N.H. -- On May 8th, 2008, a dozen brave souls gathered in Dean and Nancy Carlson's Epsom backyard at 4:45am. Under a halogen lamp attached to a basketball backboard they completed the first ever training session at Get Fit NH. There weren't a lot of “tools," no SkiErgs or TRX or even kettlebells.

According to Dean, while they may have been lacking in equipment, the group was well equipped in more important ways. "We had the determination that by showing up and working hard we would get better. We could get stronger and leaner. We learned about our bodies, and how to better feed them and take care of them. We could laugh together, and cry together, and love together. We could be family in the best sense of the word. Banding together, encouraging one another and helping one another. Realizing that all of us are better than just one of us."

In celebration of the anniversary, Dean Carlson wrote a heartfelt letter of gratitude to clients that also appeared on the Get Fit NH blog. In it, he wrote that the attitude of those who gathered in the predawn hours six years ago continues today. Get Fit NH is not about the physical locations and training equipment. Get Fit NH is and always has been about one thing: people.

In his letter, Dean expressed his gratitude for his clients, his staff, and his wife and business partner, Nancy. "I am so grateful to our clients who have adopted my kids and made them part of the crew. I am grateful that Anne in Concord persistently and consistently encouraged me to break out of my comfort zone and find training space in Concord." The gym now has two locations, the original Epsom facility and a larger one on South Main Street in Concord.

"How blessed we are to have such an amazing team in Concord. I can be confident trainers Erin Constantin, Meagan Sbat, and Sarah Gahagan are taking good care of our clients when I cannot be there. Nancy is the glue that makes the whole thing stick together. All that you see is because God graced me with the best."

Get Fit NH's clients return the deep feelings of gratitude. On the blog and on Facebook, response after response echos the sentiment. Laurie V. of Epsom wrote, "The fact that you and Nancy care about all your clients shines through always. I'm happy I'm part of the Get Fit NH family." Jennifer H. of Bow added, "I am so incredibly proud to be part of the Get Fit family! When I count what I am truly thankful for it is near the top of the list. I could never express what my coaches and the Get Fit family mean to me. Happy Anniversary!"

In a gesture typical of their focus on others, Dean and Nancy marked the anniversary by awarding Dan Yeaton of Epsom with the first six year "Hall of Fame" award. Dan was one of the brave souls to work out on that very first early morning 6 years ago and continues to train at Get Fit NH.
