DePiano’s track record of innovation is highlighted by developing 36 U.S. utility and eight design patents across healthcare, consumer products, and industrial products. John’s achievements also include leading product development teams that earned industry awards for groundbreaking products such as:
·“Good Design Award 2005” and an IDEA award sponsored by BusinessWeek for Ethicon, Inc.’s Embrace Heart Stabilizer
·“Good Design Award 2001” for an American Safety Razor multipurpose utility knife
·“Good Design Award 1998” for a Gilbarco Veeder-Root automated gasoline dispenser

Prior to joining Boston Engineering, John served as director of engineering at Eclipse Product Development, as director of engineering at Herbst Lazar Bell, Inc., and as a mechanical engineer at Bayer AGFA Corporation and Wang Laboratories. DePiano also has extensive experience in plastic molding technologies and processes.
He attended the University of Massachusetts in Lowell, Mass., and trained in the Boothroyd Dewhurst Design for Manufacture methodology.
