More than a decade ago, Peckar & Abramson developed the first GWIC conference with the goal of convening women—and men—to address the issues confronting women in the construction industry and to create a forum where they could gain information and forge relationships to assist in the advancement of their careers. Five years ago, P&A entered into an agreement with ENR to take leadership of the conference and to transform it into a national landmark event.
This year’s theme, "Personal Career Strategies to Advance Your Professional Path," gives women in construction the opportunity to learn success strategies from others who have advanced through the ranks, explore the shifting dynamics among genders in the construction workplace and make connections to further their careers. This year’s Conference will explore the challenges women face in construction and how they compare to other industries, investigate tactics for overcoming stereotypes and help identify and manage opportunities for the future professional growth of women in construction. The Conference will include panel sessions featuring perspectives from prominent women, as well as men, in the field.
