Follow on Google News | Mom Tells How Trying To Meet Others Expectations About Life And Motherhood Nearly Drove Her CrazyI knew my dreams were communicating to me somehow: they weren’t just passively showing me things; they were guiding me, calling me to action.” – Lost In The Dream
By: Akilah Bixler Motherhood is beautiful, amazing and fulfilling and at the same time awful, hard and challenging. To give a voice to only one side of motherhood does a disservice to mothers and future parents. Hearing a mother recount the story of an inconsolable screaming baby at a party not only normalizes that situation for other mothers but it also creates empathy by others who are childless. Lost in the Dream is an inspirational, honest, humorous, and heart-warming look at love, marriage, parenthood and life filled with lessons that can make us all a little bit better or at least get us thinking and talking about ourselves and each other with more kindness and compassion. Akilah Bixler is a native Californian that earned her B.A in English Literature from Purdue University in West Lafayette, IN and her MBA from LaSalle University in Philadelphia, PA. She now resides in New York, NY with her husband of 19 years and their nine year old daughter and five year old son.
