The CHRO of the Year Awards were developed to honor those CHROs with the capabilities to adapt to a competitive business environment in order to transform HR for the better. The awards comprise three categories: CHRO of the Year, Lifetime Achievement Award and Sustainable Workforce of the Year. The awards aimed to recognize the CHROS who drive workforce initiatives through innovation and measurable excellence in employee engagement and retention. Nominees were evaluated based on the scope of their impact on their organization or community, the extent to which the nominees drove these initiatives and the individual reputational or professional risk taken by each nominee.
The winners of the 2014 CHRO of the Year Awards include:
CHRO of the Year Award
Jan Becker, Senior Vice President, Human Resources for Autodesk (for-profit)
Joseph Cabral, Senior Vice President and CHRO for The North Shore-LIJ Health System (non-profit)
CHRO Lifetime Achievement Award
Roger Gaston, Senior Vice President, Human Resources for Avaya
Sustainable Workforce of the Year Award
Michelle DiTondo, Senior Vice President, Human Resources for MGM Resorts International
“The talent management landscape has become much more complex, making it contingent upon HR leaders to drive positive transformation by adopting the strategies and practices that can enhance the talent acquisition, retention and employee engagement processes,” said Elliot Clark, CEO of SharedXpertise. “As we received a high number of nominees for the inaugural CHRO of the Year Awards, all of whom certainly demonstrated their commitment to workplace innovation, it was difficult to select the top few. We congratulate these four winners for truly standing out and driving excellence among their workforces.”
The CHRO of the Year Awards and HRO Today Awards Gala were part of the larger HRO Today Forum, held in Philadelphia from Monday, May 5 through Wednesday, May 7, 2014. The event was designed to connect its audience of HR professionals with the technologies, best practices and partners to drive the overall success of the business. The forum included a comprehensive agenda of informative sessions covering all aspects of HR, including talent acquisition, employee engagement, payroll and benefits, and more. Among the highlights of the forum was a CHRO roundtable, which featured an interactive discussion among top HR executives addressing today’s most pressing HR challenges.
