LAFAYETTE, Ind. - May 12, 2014 - PRLog -- Officials from Subaru of Indiana Automotive, Inc. (SIA) joined local governmental officials and SIA Associates in a ceremonial ground breaking for SIA’s new paint shop this afternoon. The approximately 300,000 square foot facility will be located immediately southeast of the main plant and will allow for the production of 100,000 additional vehicles per year.

“Over the next two years, a tremendous amount of additional work will be performed by our Associates and several vendors and other companies from across Indiana to make SIA’s expansion a reality,” stated SIA Executive Vice President Tom Easterday. “We are grateful to everyone for their hard work to date and we again thank the local and state officials for their support of this important economic development project for Greater Lafayette and the State of Indiana.”

The new paint shop is scheduled for completion in the third quarter of 2016 as SIA prepares to begin production of the Subaru Impreza, currently built at Subaru’s Gunma Plant in Japan. In addition to the new paint shop, the nearly half million square foot expansion project will include future construction to expand both the engine and stamping shops. The total investment by SIA will exceed $400,000,000.
