Applied Ethics Alive in Connecticut’s Capitol Building

IGE’s President and CEO, Anthony J. Gray, is looking to build a more ethical society through partnerships

MADISON, Wis. - May 12, 2014 - PRLog -- IGE’s President and CEO, Anthony J. Gray, stopped by the Connecticut state capitol building last Monday to meet with State Senator Eric Coleman (D), who has served the Second District since 1995.  The pair had much to talk about, as Senator Coleman has recently been pushing his own ethical initiative, one meant to counter racial profiling by requiring police officers to provide more detailed information about their traffic stops.

“We’re doing the same work, we just use different tools,” said Gray. “That’s why I’m always thrilled to meet with public servants who put ethics first, as Senator Coleman has consistently done for almost twenty years.”

Among his many contributions to applied ethics, Senator Coleman is the current Senate Chair of the General Assembly’s Judiciary Committee, the Vice Chair of the Human Services Committee, and a member of the General Law and Program Review and Investigations Committee.  He publicly lauded the recent minimum-wage increase, and will continue to use his position to fight for all Connecticut families to have equal opportunities and treatment under the law.

“Political ethics are applied ethics,” said Coleman. “Whether in a courtroom or a boardroom, the same principles of fairness and equality should ground the decision making process.  Both Anthony and I are committed to seeing this vision become reality.”

Since his appointment as President and CEO of IGE, Gray has cultivated many such relationships, and looks forward to furthering his goal of a more ethical society through future partnerships with public servants, community leaders, and academics.  “I don’t care what side of the aisle a person sits on,” Gray added. “It’s not about that.  It’s about believing that sound ethics strengthen our democratic process.  That’s the common ground that led me to seek out Senator Coleman, and I look forward to forging relationships with others who feel the same.”
