By: One Boy USO Friday, May 16th at 1pm, Cody will be speaking at Haleyville Elementary School. He will share with the students his story, show his collection of patches, coins, and other military memorabilia and to inspire the children to support our military and veterans. All proceeds from shirt sales, book sales, bracelets and donations go toward care packages for deployed troops, supporting active duty military and veterans. Cody has been supporting troops from the age of four, ever since he learned of the events of 9/11. Cody has personally shook over 18,000 troops' hands, sent over 7000 pounds of packages since December 2011, supports troops and military families through his Facebook page of over 151,000 fans and travels the country attending charity events and speaking at schools, veterans groups and other organizations. Cody wrote two children's books to help educate other children about patriotism and to help bring future support for America's troops (Pint Sized Patriots and Standing Tall). He has also been awarded the Gold Presidential Volunteer Service Award twice for his over 2000 hours of community service served through January 2013, has received commendation from President Bush, senators and congressman, as well as having received the Boy Scout’s National Merit Award, and is a Young Marine Lance Corporal.
