PRLog - May 9, 2014 - Just in time for Mother’s Day, Rayven Choi Films has announced the an Indiegogo campaign to finance the feature film, “The Gestapo vs. Granny.” The film is a hysterical comedy that tells the story of Agnes Monroe, a mischievous senior citizen who has been kicked out of eighteen retirement homes and arrested nine times.

In the well-executed concept trailer, police are in heavy pursuit of Agnes who has stolen a black Mercedes and jets down a Los Angeles freeway. The feature film will pick up after Agnes’ arrest and will show her being shipped off to another retirement home, Shady Oaks. Agnes is surprisingly welcomed at Shady Oaks since the residents have bigger problems with the resident dictator they’ve nicknamed “The Gestapo.” The residents beg Agnes to lead them to their very own revolution but The Gestapo is a force to be reckoned with, even for a pistol like Agnes.
“In this world, Senior Citizens are often mistreated, ignored, or talked down to by the younger generation. I created this film to show that Seniors are funny, smart, necessary and bankable to Hollywood, says Smith.”
The Indiegogo campaign, launched on Friday May 9th and is looking to crowdfund at least $75,000 of its $1.35 million dollar budget for pre-production funds. The campaign will feature several creative incentives to funders at various levels. For a $5 pledge, Agnes Monroe will follow you on twitter and tweet you one of her “Senior Moments.” For a $100 pledge, funders will receive a “Free Agnes Monroe” t-shirt and a PDF of the movie script. The $200 level gets funders names listed in the movie credits as well as the limited-edition “Cat Power” t-shirt that Agnes wears in the trailer. For the $10,000 level, funders will get a speaking role in the movie.
In addition to seeking funds, the filmmakers will simultaneously launch an online petition seeking 75,000 signatures to get Betty White to star as Agnes Monroe. Writer-Director Shequeta Smith confesses that she indeed wrote the film with Betty White in mind.
