BEDFORD, Pa. - May 9, 2014 - PRLog -- Residents at Colonial Courtyard at Bedford senior living community had an opportunity to learn make-up and beauty tips from an expert.

Professional make-up artist Joette Bankes’ presentation “Beauty by Joette” focused on aging gracefully. Bankes, 26, is a Bedford High School graduate who attended cosmetology school in Pittsburgh to become a make-up artist and hair designer. Her work has been featured in various upscale fashion shows as well as on the KDKA Morning Show and in a Glamour Magazine photo shoot.

“Joette did an absolutely fabulous presentation and she really made our residents feel great about themselves,” said Anissa Rosemas, Executive Director at Colonial Courtyard at Bedford, after the May 9 event. “She did a great job. The residents were comfortable and truly appreciated the skills and efforts of an expert. They learned quite a few helpful tips.”

Bankes showed approximately 40 Colonial Courtyard at Bedford residents how to apply make up to the cheeks. She spoke about the best ways to apply lipstick for seniors. Her most important message was that “a smile is the best accessory a person can wear.”

Colonial Courtyard at Bedford previously had never had a professional make-up artist work with residents.
