Bankes, 26, is a Bedford High School graduate who attended cosmetology school in Pittsburgh to become a make-up artist and hair designer. Her work has been featured in various upscale fashion shows as well as on the KDKA Morning Show and in a Glamour Magazine photo shoot. “Joette did an absolutely fabulous presentation and she really made our residents feel great about themselves,” Bankes showed approximately 40 Colonial Courtyard at Bedford residents how to apply make up to the cheeks. She spoke about the best ways to apply lipstick for seniors. Her most important message was that “a smile is the best accessory a person can wear.” Colonial Courtyard at Bedford previously had never had a professional make-up artist work with residents. End
