NORWALK, Calif. - May 8, 2014 - PRLog -- The vehicle will be part of Cerritos College’s Chrysler Automotive Program (CAP) training. Students will be able to work on the vehicle during the hands-on portion of the classes.

Cerritos College Automotive Technology Program offers certificates, degrees and special programs in automotive repair, collision repair, alternative fuels, smog training, advanced transportation technology and automotive management.

The CAP is a two-year AA degree and certificate automotive program designed to upgrade the technical competency and professionalism of the dealership technician. The program introduces the student to the very basic to the most complex automotive diagnosis and repair of Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Fiat vehicles.

“We are very appreciating of Chrysler’s on-going support of technical training. Because of this donation our students will be able to work on the donated vehicle during the hands-on portion of our classes,” said Frank Vega, Automotive Instructor.

Every semester, the students will spend 9 weeks of the 18 week semester in the classroom and the lab. The other 9 weeks they will be a Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Fiat Dealership. What the students learn in the classroom will be applied to real life diagnosis and repairs at the dealership.  Students get the opportunity to learn on the latest technology that Chrysler is producing. The Chrysler Group provides the vehicles, books and curriculum as well as on-line access to training usually only reserved for journeyman technicians.
