General Motors Invests in Cerritos College Automotive Program

Today General Motors, one of the world’s largest automotive manufacturers, donated a vehicle to Cerritos College for its automotive training program.

NORWALK, Calif. - May 8, 2014 - PRLog -- The 2013 Cadillac ATS will be used to train aspiring technicians enrolled in GM’s Automotive Service Educational Program (ASEP).

“We are proud to support training programs that prepare the next generation of automotive technicians,” said Rick Jackson, manager for GM ASEP. “Our commitment to our customers goes well beyond building a quality product. Our dedication to excellence starts at the training level by partnering with schools in communities around the globe to share our collective passion for the automotive industry and educate, inspire and motivate the technicians of tomorrow.”

The Cadillac and the engines will be part of Cerritos College’s General Motors training. The GM Automotive Service Educational Program (ASEP) program is a two-year automotive program designed to upgrade the technical competency and professionalism of the dealership technician. The curriculum is designed by General Motors and Cerritos College, and leads to an Associate Degree.

The GM ASEP program prepares students for the workforce by providing classroom and hands-on instruction as well paid on-the-job training.

"Cerritos College Automotive Program plays an important role in helping the auto industry fill a critical need: developing and retaining skilled automotive technicians,” said Joe Mulleary, Cerritos College Automotive Instructor. “This generous donation from GM enables us to deliver the highest quality education to our students.”

The next GM program at Cerritos College starts October, 2014. To find out how to apply for the GM program, visit: http://cms.cerritos.edu/auto/asep.htm
